That this decade brought the urgency of those aims into stark relief is, of course, what originally prompted our wake-up call — a call for every Scientologist to recognize that no one sits on the sidelines, hoping someone else will bring the help that is Scientology. And as we come to a close of this decade, so it remains.

While war still rages, it's yet another crisis:

A worldwide financial collapse the likes of which — or so they say — has not been seen since the Great Depression. But again, while the multitudes desperately search for answers and a frantic few work to patch it up. Well, take a good hard look and it still comes back to the same problem, Man himself. Because, after all, economics does not rule humanity and it is not senior to the human mind and spirit.

So while some may feel hopeless — asking what, in the midst of this chaos, can me or thee do to make a difference — we know that it is not hopeless and that something can be done about it.

War? Criminality? Economic turmoil and poverty. These are not insurmountable problems when you possess a technology with which to elevate Man above the point wherein he compulsively creates those problems.
